Serious Unemployment Problem Requires Serious Solutions

(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans are concerned about rising unemployment and slow economic growth, as reported today by the U.S. Department of Labor.

"Today's dismal jobs report showing unemployment at 9.1 percent proves what Republicans have been saying all year: We need common sense, pro-growth policies to give businesses and entrepreneurs renewed confidence in our economy," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "It is time the Obama administration got the message. The solution isn't big government programs, but a strong prescription of spending cuts and tax relief for American job creators. As House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said, 'One look at the jobs report should be enough to show the White House it's time to get serious about cutting spending and dealing with our ailing economy.' Log Cabin Republicans take these unemployment numbers seriously. Gay and lesbian Americans, who still lack protection from employment discrimination in much of the country, are particularly concerned about the tight job market. We therefore call upon the president to work together with Republicans in Congress to change course, and get to work on a plan for new jobs and economic growth in our country."
